Social Security Benefits

The Welfare Worker at the Bureau is responsible for assisting clients calculate possible benefit entitlement; claim relevant benefits; liaise with benefit agencies when problems arise; and challenge benefit decisions. We are able to assist people at the bureau; at our outreach clinics and with home visits to people who are unable to come to the office.

The current benefit system can be confusing and, at times, frustrating so we can assess your entitlement using a comprehensive benefits checker and then advise on how to make any appropriate claims.

Changes to the benefits system, following the passing of the Welfare Reform Act 2012, will start to affect people of working age from October 2013 with the introduction of Universal Credit. At the Bureau we are watching these changes closely and will be able to keep you informed on how they may affect you.
